Google suspends Business Profiles that it believes do not follow its guidelines, but it rarely tells you exactly which rule. Most suspensions trace back to the business name, the address, service-area settings, duplicates or recent edits. Here are the 12 most common reasons and how to fix each.
Name problems
1. Keywords in the business name
Google does not allow keywords, taglines, locations or service descriptions in the name. Fix: use your real-world name exactly as it appears on your signage.
2. Other extras in the name
Store codes, phone numbers, URLs, opening hours, ® or ™ symbols and all-capitals words are also not allowed. Legal suffixes such as LLC are only allowed if they consistently appear in your real-world branding. Fix: strip the name back to what customers see.
Address problems
3. A P.O. box or remote mailbox
Google says these are not acceptable addresses. Fix: use the physical location you operate from, or switch to a service-area profile.
4. A virtual office
If you rent an address but do not operate there, Google says that location is not eligible. Fix: list where you actually work.
5. A co-working desk without signage
Co-working offices only qualify with clear signage and your own staff present during business hours. Fix: add signage and staff the office, or become a service-area business.
6. A service-area business showing its address
If you travel to customers and do not serve them at your address, Google says to hide it. Fix: hide the address and set a service area.
Setup problems
7. Duplicate profiles
Each physical location gets one profile. Fix: keep one and remove the others.
8. Categories used as keywords
Google asks for the fewest categories that describe what your business is, not what it has. Fix: trim categories to your core business.
9. A service area that is too large
Google's guidance is that service areas should generally stay within about two hours' drive of your base. Fix: reduce it to where you really work.
Content and activity problems
10. Misleading links or phone numbers
Phone numbers and website links must lead to the actual business, not redirect elsewhere. Fix: point both straight to you. See Suspended for "Deceptive Content"?
11. Many edits in a short time
Changing the name, address and category together can make the profile look like a different business. Fix: make one set of accurate changes and then leave the profile alone. Address changes are a common trigger; see Suspended After Changing Address.
12. Restricted business types listed as service-area
Google says businesses with age-restricted products or services, such as alcohol, cannabis or weapons, cannot be service-area businesses without a storefront. Fix: list a qualifying storefront.

Frequently asked questions
Can a Google Business Profile be suspended for no reason?
It can feel that way because Google rarely names the rule. Almost every case maps to a guideline issue, often something that was set up years ago, so check each item above carefully.
Does Google tell you why a profile was suspended?
Usually only in general terms. Check your email and your profile for any notice, then compare the profile against the guidelines.
Will fixing the issue automatically lift the suspension?
No. You still need to submit an appeal through Google's appeals tool after correcting the profile.
