The Google Business Profile appeals tool is where you ask Google to review a suspended or disabled profile. It only takes a few minutes to submit, but Google allows one appeal per decision, so preparation matters far more than the form itself.
Before you open the tool
Most rejected appeals fail because they were submitted too early. Do these first:
- Fix the likely cause. Compare the profile with Google's guidelines: name without keywords, an eligible address, address hidden for service-area businesses, accurate categories, no duplicates.
- Collect matching documents. Google accepts official business registration, a business licence, tax certificates and utility bills (electricity, phone, water or internet). The name and address on each must match the profile.
- Take supporting photos of permanent signage, your shopfront, or your branded vehicle and equipment.
- Check for an account restriction. If your whole Google account is restricted, Google says you must appeal that first on your My accounts page.
Step by step: submitting an appeal
- Open the appeals tool from Google Business Profile Help, signed in with the account that owns or manages the profile.
- Confirm the account when asked.
- Select the profile you want to appeal, then select the decision you are appealing.
- Add information. This step is optional, but use it: briefly explain what you corrected and attach your documents.
- Confirm you are ready by checking the readiness box, then submit.
- Wait for Google's email with the decision. Do not create a new profile in the meantime.
What the appeal statuses mean
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Eligible for appeal | You can submit an appeal for this decision. |
| Submitted | Google has your appeal and is reviewing it. |
| Approved | The appeal succeeded and the profile is being reinstated. |
| Not approved | The appeal was denied. |
| Can't be appealed | This decision cannot go through the appeals tool. |
How to avoid a rejection
- Make documents match exactly. A different trading name, old address or a missing unit number weakens your case.
- Keep the explanation short and factual. Say what you changed and what the documents show. Avoid arguing or comparing yourself to competitors.
- Upload clear files. Scans or photos where every name and address can be read.
- Do not keep editing the profile after you submit.
If your appeal is not approved
Google may run an additional review only after a denial, and only if you have new evidence that was not in the original appeal. It is submitted through the local appeals contact form. Read Appeal Rejected? What to Do Next for how to approach this second chance.
Frequently asked questions
How many times can I use the appeals tool?
Google says appeals can only be submitted once per decision. After a denial, an additional review is possible only with new evidence.
How long does Google take to answer an appeal?
Google's appeals page does not give a timeframe; it says Google will review the appeal and email the decision. See How Long Does Reinstatement Take? for what to expect.
Do I need to upload documents?
Adding information is optional in the tool, but an appeal with matching registration, licence, tax or utility documents is much stronger than one without.
